Biology 12 - Period 5
Earth Science - Period 6
  • Looked at the bright line spectra of some elements. 
  • Continued with notes on the spectra of stars. 
Biology 11 - Periods 7 and 8
  • Finished up with the scientific method.  Two worksheets - Dogged Investigation and Mosquitoes.
  • Scientific method quiz next week (Wednesday, October 5th). Topics will include: steps in the scientific method, controlled vs experimental variables, hypothesis writing, writing a controlled experiment, data analysis and conclusion writing (support or reject hypothesis).

  • Cell Quiz to start.  A great way to start the class.  Followed by a "discussion" regarding the Scientific Method.  No homework!


Biology 12 - Period 4

Last day for cells!  Test next class.  Topics include:
- cell parts and functions
- plant vs animal cells (similarities and differences)
- prokaryotic vs eukaryotic cells (similarities and differences)
- cellular respiration and photosynthesis - balanced chemical equations
- functional interrelationships - how organelles work together to keep cells alive (ex: organelles involved in the synthesis and secretion of proteins)

A couple of Hubble Telescope videos followed by some questions from the text:
Questions to be completed are:  page 364 #1, 3a and c, 4a and c and 6b.
