Friday, October 10th, 2014 - Day 1

Biology 11 - Period 1
Earth Science 11 - Period 3
  • Final day for crystal observations.  Alum, salt, copper sulphate and borax.
  • Interesting documentary looking at the Naica Crystal Caves.
Biology 12 - Period 4
  • Water lab today.  A look at water and its properties and a comparison of polar and non polar compounds.
  • The lab should have been handed in at the end of class.

Biology 11 - Period 5
  • Finished up your biological diagrams and started studying cells.
  • Worksheet today and then an intro powerpoint.
  • Please complete the worksheet for the start of next class.

Biology 12 - Period 6
  • Water lab today.  A look at water and its properties and a comparison of polar and non polar compounds.

  • A bit of time to look at some prepared slides with the microscopes after the quiz.
Earth Science 11 - Period 3
  • Minerals today.  Observations of some common minerals.
  • We will work on mineral identification next class.

  • Scientific Method Quiz today.  I hope everyone did well.
  • After the quiz you had sometime to look at some prepared cells using a compound microscope.
Biology 12 - Period 6
  • Cell Quiz today.  I hope everyone did well.
  • Some basic chemistry as well.
Earth Science 11 - Period 7
  • A review of last day's chemistry notes with an emphasis on minerals and crystals.
  • Set up the crystal lab.  The crystals will be ready on Wednesday for observations.

Monday, Oct. 6th, 2014 - Day 1

Biology 11 - Period 1
  • Checked and went over the last (finally) Spongebob worksheet.
  • Listed some topics on the whiteboard for your upcoming Scientific Method Quiz.  You will write this next class (Wed. Oct.8th).
  • Moved on to a reintroduction to the microscope.  Just some parts and functions.  You will have the opportunity to look at some prepared slides on Wednesday after your quiz.
Earth Science 11 - Period 2
  • A review of last day's chemistry notes with an emphasis on minerals and crystals.
  • Set up the crystal lab.  The crystals will be ready on Wednesday for observations.
Biology 12 - Period 3
  • Cell quiz today.  I hope everyone was prepared and did well.
  • We will be working through a basic chem powerpoint next class and then talking about how special water is.  Fun!

Friday, October 3rd, 2014 - Day 2

Biology 11 - Period 5

  • Finally finished the Spongebob worksheets, which means you will be writing a Scientific Method Quiz next class (Tuesday, October 7th).  Please take some time to prepare.
  • Took a bit of time to review microscope parts and functions.  We will continue with the microscope next week.
Biology 12 - Period 6
Science 10 - Period 7
  • Bohr diagrams today folks.  Very exciting stuff.  
  • We will look at how valence electrons interact next class.
Earth Science 11 - Period 8
  • Some basic chemistry definitions today to lead into our future study of minerals and then rocks.

Thursday, October 2nd, 2014 - Day 1

Biology 11 - Period 1
  • More Spongebob scientific method practice.  Enough already! 
  • I will check the last Spongebob sheet next class.
  • You will be writing a Scientific Method Quiz on Wednesday, October 8th.  We will discuss quiz topics on Monday.
Earth Science 11 - Period 3
  • What?  You've already finished your Career Research Assignment?  Good.
  • Moved on to talk about some basic chemistry terms.
  • This discussion will lead us into our study of crystals and minerals which will begin next class.
Biology 12 - Period  4
  • Finished up our review of cell parts and functions with a diagram show how different organelles work together to synthesis, transport and secrete proteins.
  • You will be writing a quiz next class (Monday, October 6th), so please take some time to prepare.
